Fantasy Premier League GW9 has a Friday night deadline as Arsenal take on Aston Villa. However, the big news this week came from Stamford Bridge with both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner getting injured in their Champions League win over Malmo. If you are part of the 31.9 per cent of FPL managers who own Lukaku and now must shop on the market for new striking options, we will look at the few players you may consider bringing in. Will Liverpool Vs United live up to expectation and can Brighton continue their highly promising start to the season against a Rampant Manchester City side.

GW9 SUGGESTIONS

GW8 saw the start of Chelsea’s much anticipated fixture swing. However, winning comfortably midweek in the champions league has come at a huge cost with the injuries to Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.  This could be a time to load at the back with Chelsea players as this is where a lot of their points could be accumulated in the coming weeks.  Ben Chilwell (5.7m) has been in flying form in recent weeks and he will certainly look to continue that against a struggling Norwich side. Reece James (5.5m) is another good addition to the squad for the forthcoming weeks as he will get look to take some of the responsibility on the attacking front. Kai Havertz (8.1m) is the other obvious candidate as without Lukaku and Werner Tuchel might look to play a False 9 meaning Havertz will find himself much further forward at most stages of the game.

The Big Game of the weekend is the age-old clash between Manchester united and Liverpool. The two teams are coming into this game on very different paths with Liverpool seemingly back to their best and Ole under lots of scrutiny in recent weeks. The First player I want to look at is Marcus Rashford (9.4m). If he is fit and able to start the game i think he can cause Alexander Arnold huge problems defensively as we seen a few years ago. 479,582 was the total number of people that jumped off the Ronaldo bandwagon, but just as we seen midweek, he is a man for the big occasion and lives for big moments, so will the 18,899 that brought him in this week reap the rewards. My pick this week must come from the Liverpool side however and it is Sadio mane (11.9m) he has been flying this year netting 5 times, only to be outdone in this Liverpool side by arguably the best player in world football at the minute Mo Salah.

The Gunners kick off this GW at home to Aston villa in a game which is extremely hard to call. Both sides are separated by a single point but who will make the telling difference. Bukayo Saka’s injury means that Nicholas pepe will have to step up to the plate and in my opinion, I think he will just do that. We have seen some bits of brilliance from him since coming to the league, but he has not displayed it on a consistent basis. This could be a game where he could really cement a place in this arsenal side.

Manchester city have been in rampant form in recent weeks, and we saw further evidence of that with the demolishing they handed out to Club Brugge midweek. KDB is starting to get a run of games in the side and as he continues to get that sharpness he is definitely one we will want to have in the coming weeks. Neil Maupay (6.6m) is maybe one player you could look at on the Brighton side but with the limited chances he will have it could be a long day for him.

Other Players who may be worth a transfer in this week are, Harry Kane (12.1m) however 1 good game in 6 months is not going to do it for me and I would need to see much more from him. Aubameyang (9.9m) has found the net three times in this campaign so far and showed signs against Palace on Monday night that he could get back to the goal scoring machine we know he is. The final two attacking options I want to look are Odsonne Edouard (6.5m) and Allan Saint Maximin (6.8m) as both players have had very bright starts to the campaign and could prove to be huge value in the coming weeks.

Captain options

This section will be quite short. Mohammed Salah is the only captain option for the foreseeable future. If you are feeling brave and want to try something different then Jamie Vardy is the other choice that would maybe be worth looking at. With the number of injuries this game week my advice would be to play it safe and give the armband to Salah as that’s what the rest of the FPL community will do.
