GW12 SUGGESTIONS
This week kicks off with Leicester hosting top of the league Chelsea. Very hard not to start of talking about the 2nd highest transferred player in this GW Reece James. With a crazy turnaround of 41 points in his last 3 games it feels like you are at an automatic disadvantage if you don’t own him because you know majority of your opponents do! I took Chilwell in myself before GW 11 thinking that with the system Chelsea Play both full backs will get equal opportunities to gain points, of course Chilwell blanks and James gets an assist. The question is, will we see the return of Lukaku, as we all know this year has been the poorest return from the forwards on FPL. There is a lot of games still to play and it might be harder for managers to fit that big money striker back into their teams down the line. Maybe this isn’t the fixture to take the gamble with Lukaku and looking at the FPL community it obviously isn’t the fixture for Jamie Vardy either as he is the 2nd highest transferred out player after blanking the last 3 GW’s (When I brought him).
I expect a performance from Villa this week when Gerrard gets introduced to the home crowd on Saturday. Not an easy opener with Brighton in a great position in the league after playing both City and Liverpool in their last 3 fixtures. After Sánchez receiving a red in their last game against Newcastle it means there will be a rotation between the sticks for Graham Potter and over 20% of FPL managers. I don’t think Villa are as bad as their league position represents them, with Gerrard's input it makes Ollie Watkins very appealing at £7.3m. We know the importance Morelos had with Rangers leading the line under Gerrard and with Danny Ings unknown return date, this could be a great chance for Watkins to show the new boss what he can do for him.
Eddie Howe will also address his new fans for the first time this weekend as they take on Brentford. At this point I am still waiting on Toney to do something special, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. Like a lot of managers, I brought him in for the home fixture against bottom side Norwich now I’m turning my attention elsewhere for a replacement. A lot of talk is can Eddie Howe bring the best out of his former player Callum Wilson, he has averaged a goal or assist every 129th minute over the last 3 seasons. At his price tag of £7.4m and only owned by 2.5% of FPL managers he could be the man to replace Toney. Talking of getting the best out of players, Patrick Veira has no doubt brought the best out of Conor Gallagher, at £5.9m its clear to see why over 400,000 managers have transferred him for this fixture against 18th Place Burnley. Another cheap differential I like the look off is Guaita at £4.6m. Currently he is level on overall points with Allison and Ederson and is £1.4m cheaper with a good run of fixtures ahead.
At this rate Ole’s beginning to look like a man at the wheel of a Translink bus in Newtownabbey. A man in trouble! I have no idea what United can do after the international break, After Chelsea in GW13 they have a good run of fixtures coming up. Fixtures I’m looking at now, I'm thinking could Ronaldo be the big money replacement for Vardy. They need a result this week against Watford and after two poor derby performances at home it is a must win game. Especially with West Ham moving themselves up to 3rd in the table after an impressive victory over Liverpool. They are the only team with 3 midfielders with 50+ points aswell as Antonio and Cresswell being one of the highest scoring players in their positions. Moyes really has done an incredible job with them this season, with the goals they are scoring there are so many cheap players you could benefit from with Fornals at £6.0m up to Antonio at £8.2m when they take on hit or miss Wolves on Saturday.
With Liverpool without a win from the masterclass at Old Trafford is this the perfect chance for an inform Arsenal to take advantage and overtake them in the league table. Apart from Auba, Arsenals main point scorers are all under the £6.5m market. Fair play to anyone that backed them, and it paid off. Especially with Smith Rowe’s performances, gathering 57 points so far, he was a differential that my friends gained a lot of ground on with me. But regardless I think Liverpool is a huge step up in class compared to the teams they have played recently. With Firmino out injured the FPL twitter community all seem to have the same idea of getting Jota into their team knowing he is going to play the striker position. As a midfielder, priced at £7.5m, playing in one of the best attacks in the league I think he is a must have if you can get him in. If there is one thing this fixture can promise us if recent fixtures are anything to go by is goals. In their last 6 meetings in the league there has been 22 goals! With Liverpool scoring 3+ in the last 3 home games. Salah so far has got himself 117 points and still there is 28.4% of FPL managers who do not have him in their team. If you are part of this small percentage, please get in touch as I’d love to know why?
Come Sunday I think most managers will know what way their game week is going to go with most of their team playing on the Saturday. With Cancelo being the 2nd highest point scorer in the game at £6.5m his owners will be looking a similar performance from his last day out in the Manchester Derby. He is a player I’d love to fit in, with all the talk of Pep Roulette, he has played this most minutes within the squad. Not hard to realise why he’s picked up the most points for them. I think the last time I wrote the blog I talked about Silva at £7.0m. I wish I had of backed up what I was writing, from this, he looks like 1 of Pep’s first names on the team sheet with starting everyone of City’s games this season he was available for. He is also City’s highest scoring midfielder and probably the cheapest aswell. Hard to look in the direction of Everton players with the injuries they have now. The low-priced Everton players form have certainly taken a dip from they have struggled to find a target man up front. I am very confident most FPL managers will be keeping an eye on the Spurs and Leeds game. With Raphinha and the talk between Kane or Son, the 3 players will be well represented across the FPL community. With Conte coming in they got a well-deserved clean sheet the last game out, the only thing missing was the goals. After Kane hitting 7 goals during the international break is this the time for him to turn his season around? A lot of managers seem to think so but are unsure on who the better option may be with his partner Son consistently performing all season. For me, I have went with Son as he fits into my team better being £2.0m cheaper. Leeds don’t look like themselves this year leaking a lot at the back. I can see Spurs finding a new gear this week and bagging a few goals in front of the home fans on Conte’s first home game!

Captain options
I’ve been very predictable in recent fixtures with my captain choices going with the safe choice of Salah, to be fair he’s been hard to look past the way he’s been playing, so why not! Although I’m at the stage I need a captain that no one else will have to get some green arrows in my league positions. This could be a good week to look in that direction.
Is it worth the risk in backing a defender? The way the top full backs in the league are playing, maybe not. Between Trent, Cancelo and James you could have easily gained advantage through their recent performances. If you know there is a potential clean sheet on the way, then there is an automatic 12 points (If they don’t get booked) any goals or assists after that, you are laughing! Out of the three this weekend, Maybe Cancelo could be a good differential captain choice.
With Midfielders you have the obvious Salah, with contributing 6 goals and 2 assists in his 8 games against Arsenal in the league its hard to look past him when he is in the form of his life and averaging a goal or assist every game against The Gunners. I tipped Son for the arm band once this season and of course he blanked, he has also blanked in his last 3 GW’s the longest he has gone without a goal or assist this season. Which makes me think he could offer something this weekend against Leeds.
I am obviously going to mention Kane as an option for the forwards, regardless of the quality of England’s opponent’s 7 goals in two games is some shooting and if anything, he will be going into this game against Leeds full of confidence! He also falls into that category of a player you could use to gain points on your opponents because a lot are afraid to take the risk with him due to his league performances to date. I feel like I’ve built this spurs team up for big things this weekend against Leeds so it will most likely be another 0-0.
The captain I am going to go with for my own team is Ronaldo. I brought him back in for Vardy this week. Of course, the week I took him out he got the Goal and Assist against Spurs. I feel United need to get a result this weekend and most importantly a proper performance from the team, in the past when Ole’s back was against the ropes, they delivered. A lot of FPL managers have taken Ronaldo out so I’m looking at a chance to gain points on the managers that don’t have him.
